Zoyt was born in Canada in 1957. The painter, sculptor and performance artist came to the visual arts as an autodidact. He decided to use wood as the material for his sculptures and this conscious determination influences the sculptural design. Wood is a material with a specific character. The sculptor knocks his sculptures out of the log so that the raw tool marks remain visible. The physical volume of the figures is accentuated by partial color markings, which, however, do not give them any expressive emotionality and thus impose themselves on the viewer. In the past ten years, Zoyt has succeeded in developing an unmistakable formal language.
